World of Pinot Noir – 2014

Pinot Noir Producers and Consumers Gather to Celebrate the Grape

The 14th Annual World of Pinot Noir, February 28-March 1, 2014, will be celebrated this year at the luxurious Bacara Resort & Spa, just outside the city of Santa Barbara on the “American Riviera”.  This event brings Pinot Noir producers from the most exceptional and unique regions in the world together with Pinot Noir enthusiasts for a weekend of celebration and education on California’s beautiful Central Coast. The weekend includes in-depth tasting seminars and excursions, Grand Tastings by the Sea and gourmet, locally-influenced lunches and dinners. For a complete listing of events click here.

A fun featured event this year will be a panel discussion and tasting, “Hollywood and the Vine” – Sideways vs. Somm, a look at how Hollywood has put wine, particularly Pinot Noir, into starring roles. Lunch after the panel discussion will be prepared by none other than Frank Ostini from Hitching Post II Restaurant, the “set” for much of Sideways, putting the restaurant and Frank’s oak-grilled fare on the map.

Enjoy the view of the Pacific from the Grand Ballroom Terraces of Bacara as you immerse yourself in the “World of Pinot Noir”, sampling wines from over 120 producers from California and around the world. The Grand Tasting on Saturday, March 1, will also feature appetizers by Chef David Reardon and his talented culinary team and cheese tasting from C’est Cheese.

Whether you favor Pinot Noir from California, Oregon or Burgundy,  it is clear that there are Pinot Noir styles to suit every palate. From fruit forward ripeness to austere complexity, every one of the regions represented offer unique qualities that are  terroir driven wines.
